Fall Conference
Boston Scientific has committed to sponsoring a Friday night session. The Saturday conference will include two breakout sessions sponsored by Boston Scientific and two breakout sessions sponsored by Olympus. Speakers will include Dr. McCormick and Dr. Drennan as well as two additional speakers in the morning. The CBGNA certification exam will be held at the conference hotel (Embassy Suites) on Sunday, October 16th. The board members discussed guidelines for sponsors.
Scholarship Chair Joan:
Discussion of Betty Shulenberger scholarships by the board members. Four scholarships will be awarded today during the GI Potpourri. The new point system for scholarships was also discussed. The board approved the following four Betty Shulenberger scholarship winners: Dale Brouwer, Tim Hilts, Janice Koropoulis, and Chris Sexauer.
Boise Conference
This conference will be held June 24th and June 25th. This conference will be co-sponsored by the PNWSGNA.
SGNA National Conference
The theme of regional night is “Land of 10,000 Lakes”. Ideas for regional night were setting up a pond for “fishing” and wearing fishing outfits. Set up for regional night will be Sunday morning between 0800 and 1100. Further details will be distributed to those attending conference.
Colon Cancer Month
Ideas included placing an ad on a metro bus. The Virginia Mason half-marathon for colon cancer awareness is scheduled for March 20, 2005.
Education Committee Co-chair Cathi:
Working on policies and procedures. She will update the board members at the next meeting and ask for feedback.
Treasurer Shanna:
Created an education fund and moved 15% of the January 1, 2005 balance from the checking account to this education savings account. Another $1000.00 was also moved to this new account. Shanna secured a dishonesty bond to include all board members. Shanna also requests the funds for the Andy Gilmore scholarship be sent directly from Olympus to the scholarship winner.
Vendor Coordinator Donna:
Donna is in contact with the vendors.
Next board meeting is scheduled for April 30, 2005.
