Just wanted to get out a quick update from the meeting in June. For those of you who weren’t present we discussed a the leadership challenge we are having right now with no one coming forward to run for President next year. The discussion led from a previous president, one option, or to the board agreeing on increasing the term time to two years for all of the elected officers. The second choice was discussed in length due to the board members present thinking a longer term would enable the president to propose their ideas and then plenty if time to follow them through to the fact that it would give the president elect more time to learn the job and then begin to use that time to begin advance planning for their time as president. One other advantage with this is being able to have some advance planning for the region as a whole, we have already committed to a set date for the Fall conference to coincide with the certification course we should be able to set up a future sites committee and conference planning for many years ahead not just year by year.
Onto other issues we have solidified the speaker line up for the am part of the fall conference (can be found on the website) and are moving on to the application process and getting clarification from the vendors as to what they are willing to offer us.
We discussed the cert prep course which we are all very excited about and I hope to see most of you there if you are able it will be a great way for us to give back to the members especially thanks to Heathers great efforts we are able to hold the certification course with our fall conference (thanks Heather). Marianne will be following up with the CBGNA regarding the possibility of this being a continual event for no cost and so we look forward to hearing about that at the next board meeting. Marianne has also agreed to come on ‘board’ with us and help Sheryl with the vendor sponsorship.
Thanks to Bill for the newsletter that you should all have received this last week great job and I would like you all to start thinking about your articles for the next one.
Cathi presented the education committees policy and procedure for the new scholarships which we will be instituting next year and it was decided to give it a trial run with the fall conference scholarship (as it won’t really cost us anything financially). Let me or Cathi know if there are any questions or ideas for the implementation of this.
