PNWSGNA BOARD MEETING MINUTES
September 21, 2002
VIRGINIA MASON HOSPITAL
Present: Mary Kay Wood, Cathi Dodson, Sally Steward, Jill Ragsdale, Patti Wilbur, Carolyn Anderson,
Linda Fortney, Michelle Koger, Irena Wright, Debbie DiPietro, Karen Darsie, and Debbie Tombs. Meeting was called to order at 0910. Board meeting minutes of 5-4-02 were approved.
Past President Carolyn Anderson: Will meet with Victoria Smith at the Doubletree Inn in Bellevue re: Fall Conference. Discuss setting up the room, meals, etc. Will confirm there are no conflicting incoming events. Friday evening before the fall conference board members will be stuffing the conference bags with syllabus, tablet and pen. Debbie D. – Astra Zeneca will provide the bags. Precision Instruments the tablet and pen. Linda F. will have names printed to be stuffed in the name badges. Registration tables will be set up and Kaylen V. is arranging for tablecloths and flower arrangement. At last years post conference meeting it was felt we needed to have an information booth. The board agreed and it will be a paid position ($150.00) plus free food.
Vendor Coordinator Debbie DiPietro: Looking for someone to mentor for this position. Also looking for new vendor/sponsorship volunteers to work with Vendor Coordinator. These positions will work with the Treasurer. Updating the vendor sponsorship letter and will give it to Linda F. to mail. Course syllabuses will be at each vendor table at the Fall Conference. Expecting 30 vendors at the conference, 29 vendors have responded and 14 to date have paid. Vendors with equipment will be setting up on Friday evening.
Newsletter Irena Wright & Michelle Koger: The fall newsletter is on-line now and is the last issue that will be mailed. Starting with the Spring 2003 edition all newsletters will be kept on a CD and passed on through the Lightsource editors. Michelle and Irena have resigned as newsletter co-editors. Irena will mentor and assist with the transition of new editor(s). Michelle will write an article in the next newsletter encouraging members to be involved in the PNWSGNA Board. Karen D. is encouraging membership from the South (Oregon). FYI – PNWSGNA members may attend Board meetings. Any PNWSGNA member may submit an article. The newsletter sponsorship is $1,000.00.
The Board discussed the subject of Vendor articles. An article was submitted to the Board by Lesli Keown from Curon Medical on the STRETTA procedure in treating GERD. After reviewing other regional newsletters and a Board discussion it was agree that vendors can sponsor our newsletter but not submit articles. This is our format.
Scholarship Debbie Tombs: We have received two applicants for the Andy Gilmore scholarship. Members, please submit who you feel to be a deserving applicant. Debbie has agreed to take over the webiste position as Jennifer Gleason has resigned. This position will be working with the Board Secretary. FYI – Our logo can be printed off our website.
Treasurer Linda Fortney: Checking - $13,686.38, Savings - $13,896.81, interest at 1.25%.
CD - $11,958.56, matures 10/31/02 with interest at 1.5%.
FYI – All of our business accounts are free.
Patty Wilbur: Brochures for the Fall Conference were mailed on 9-23-02 and may also be found on our website . There is no early bird registration this year for the conference, you are either an SGNA member or not.
President Jill Ragsdale: The PNWSGNA maintains a non-profit status not by the amount of money we have but by how it is spent. Our money is spent for education, scholarships, etc. Board Members,
Bring your budget forms and your leadership binders to our next meeting in December.
The meeting was adjourned at 1040. The next meeting will be held December 7, 2002 at VMMC.
