PNWSGNA BOARD MEETING MINUTES
September 13, 2003
FEDERAL WAY VIRGINIA MASON
Present:
Mary Kay Davis, Donna Seaberg, Cathi Dodson, Jeanne Ronk, Linda Fortney, Jill Ragsdale,
Sheryl Tack, Allison McClane, Marianne Houlne, Irena Wright, and Bill Smiley. Meeting
was called to order at 0907. The Board meeting minutes from May 3, 2003 were reviewed and
approved.
Treasurer’s Report:
Linda stated she had old Treasury records from 1989 to the present. The Board
agreed and approved that all records from 1989 through 1995 be destroyed/shredded. As
she receives registrations for the fall conference she will be preparing the name tags and they
will then be assembled in Spokane by the Spokane conference committee members. The new
Core Curriculum will not be available until November. We will still be raffling off the Core
Curriculum as our door prize for the conference and it will be mailed to the winner when it
becomes available. At this time 51 have preregistered for the fall conference.
Checking Account Balance:
$ 5,300.00
Money Market Balance
$13,970.00
Spokane Fall Conference:
CBGNA has approved 7.8 contact hours for the conference.
Vendor set up is scheduled for 0530 on Saturday. Donna and Sheryl will be working with the
Spokane group. Sheryl stated that vendors that have donated items for the conference would ship
them directly to the Spokane Doubletree Hotel. Sheryl and Donna will continue to work on the
list of vendor tables reserved and payments collected.
At this time the Board has approved that we will not be providing a list of conference attendees
to the vendors.
Jill and Linda will be at the Registration Table, assisting those who register on the day of the
Conference.
Allison will be manning the Membership table. There will be a Teddy Bear raffle for new
PNWSGNA members signing up the day of the conference. A CBGNA representative (Marianne Houlne) may be available at the Membership table for part of the day.
The syllabus goes to print on September 29; we will need a head count of attendees and vendors.
Linda will be handing out the Honorarium checks to each speaker’s moderator day of conference.
Parking at the Spokane Doubletree Hotel is $4.00/day and will not be validated by the hotel.
Cathi, Jeanne, and Jill will tally all evaluations and send the Post-activity form to the CBGNA for
completion of our CEU application.
Mary Kay will send thank you letters to all speakers at the fall conference.
Bill suggested a thank you to the fall conference vendors and sponsors be included in our
newsletter and the Board agreed. This thank you could also be incorporated into the Vendor
or Sponsorship board members article.
Amendments:
Fall conference tuition reimbursement for all fall conference committee members will be based
on three criteria:
PNWSGNA membership (mandatory)
Fund availablility
Board discretion
Recipients of the Betty Schulenberg scholarships will be responsible for writing an article for the
fall newsletter, The Lightsource.
New guidelines for the Editor of the newsletter The Lightsource were reviewed and approved by
the Board. These guidelines were revised and distributed by Irena Wright. Thank you.
New Business:
The PNWSGNA Conflict of Interests Forms were revised February 2002. Acknowledgements
Were signed by members of the Board and will be retained in the Secretary’s Handbook.
The Guidelines for the Andy Gilmore scholarship are on the web www.pnwsgna.org. The
Deadline for nominations is October 3, 2003, please forward your nomination to Joan Jahraus.
Remember, you must be a member of PNWSGNA to nominate someone but it is not a
Requirement for the nominee to be a member.
The ballots for 2004 Board positions will be mailed the third week of September. Return them to
Jill Ragsdale.
We are looking at a South Sound site for the 2004 Fall Conference. Cathi Dodson, Debbie
Tombs, and Jill Jahraus are the 2004 Committee Co-Chairs.
The SGNA House of Delegates has approved the establishment of a national database for
Endoscopy Centers.
PNWSGNA was recognized at the National Conference in Atlanta last May as the region with the
largest number of certified members. Contact www.cbgna.org for certification information.
Membership:
Welcome letters and business cards will be mailed to all new members of PNWSGNA. Cathi
Supplied the Membership Chair with a list of new members.
Tabled for December, 2003 Meeting:
Review of PNWSGNA Regional Society Bylaws.

The meeting was adjourned at 1205.
The next Board Meeting will be held on December 6, 2003 at 9:00 AM at the Federal Way Virginia Mason.
