Thanks in part to your efforts, the "ADA (Americans with Disabilities) Amendments Act of 2008" has passed in both the House and Senate! This bill seeks to restore some of the protections afforded disabled individuals that have been eroded by recent Supreme Court rulings.
Of specific interest to CCFA and our constituents, the ADA Amendments Act makes it easier for people with Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis to be covered under the Americans with Disabilities Act. It expands the definition of a disability to include a new category of "major bodily functions." (Read the full text of this bill.)
Let's build on this victory to push the IBD Research Enhancement Act forward! Take action now -- please thank your legislator for their support, and ask them to cosponsor the IBD Research Enhancement Act.
CCFA's mission is to cure Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, and to improve the quality of life of children and adults affected by these diseases.
