A Memorial to Andy Gilmore Andy Gilmore was an Olympus representative in the Pacific Northwest Region. He was respected and trusted by all who had the pleasure of working with him. Every member of the health care team was important to Andy and he recognized their contribution to the team. He had such a positive and optimistic outlook and we cannot help but remember his wonderful and beautiful smile.
Andy was honored by Olympus as "Salesman of the Year" in 2000, which has now been established as an annual award.
Andy's family was the center of life. Although he was busy with his career, and active in his community and church, he knew the importance of balancing his professional and family life.
On February 19, 2000, Andy lost his battle with cancer. To honor his memory, this scholarship fund has been created to enable health care team members in Gastroenterology, attend the SGNA National Conference.
PNWSGNA Andy Gilmore Memorial Scholarship Fund
Purpose: To honor Andy’s memory, Olympus and PNWSGNA established this scholarship to assist gastroenterology healthcare team members with the expenses associated with attending the SGNA National Conference. Each year, one $1000 scholarship will be awarded to a single recipient.
Criteria for Application:
Potential scholarship recipients:
Do not have to be PNWSGNA members
May be any member of the gastroenterology healthcare team that is interested in attending the SGNA National Conference.
Should embody the following qualities:
·Have the respect and trust from those who work with them
·Encourage teamwork through example
·Present a positive and optimistic outlook
·Active in the community, either in schools, church, charities, politics, etc.
·Strive to maintain that delicate balance of professional and private life.
·Over time, consistently make noteworthy contributions to the organization in multiple ways
Potential scholarship recipients must write a narrative that includes the qualities listed above.
Terms of Agreement:
Within 30 days following the conference, the scholarship recipient agrees to:
Submit a short article (2 to 3 paragraphs) to the PNWSGNA Newsletter Editor describing his/her experiences at the National Conference. The PNWSGNA Newsletter Editor will send a copy of the article to Olympus.
Submit documentation of actual use of their funds to the PNWSGNA Scholarship Chair.
Submit a copy of their Certificate of Attendance to the PNWSGNA Scholarship Chair.
Within 14 days of receipt of the above documentation the PNWSGNA Treasurer will issue a check to the recipient in the amount of the Andy Gilmore Scholarship (currently $1000).
Deadline for submitting application: March 1st (each year).
Selection Process:The PNWSGNA Board will review all nominations and select the current year’s Andy Gilmore Memorial Scholarship winner during March (each year). The scholarship recipient will be notified of the Board’s decision at the PNWSGNA’s Annual Fall Conference. Please Note: All scholarship policies, guidelines, and budget are set by the PNWSGNA Board.
